Suggested Use in Candle Wax

Our dyes are convenient and easy to use! We package them in amber bottles with a dropper cap.* Simply use the dropper to dispense the desired number of drops into your melted wax. Dye colors can be mixed together to create your own unique shades!

Add dyes when the wax is fully melted but not above 225° F. Stir until evenly dispersed. This will ensure the candle colorant blends properly with your wax.

  • Light: 2-4 drops per pound of wax
  • Medium: 5-8 drops per pound of wax
  • Dark: 8-10 drops per pound of wax

A 1 oz bottle of liquid dye will color up to 100 pounds of wax to a medium shade. Soy and natural waxes often produce a more pastel color than paraffin. Proper testing is required. Color swatch represents how dye appears in a paraffin/soy wax blend and may display differently on your monitor.

As with any candle dye, frosting may occur when these dyes are used in soy wax and soy-heavy blends. This is completely normal. Customers purchasing handmade soy candles are accustomed to seeing frosting in colored candles. Learn more about frosting in candles and how to avoid it in our blog.

How to Use in Other Applications

These liquid dyes can also be used to color our Reed Diffuser Base and epoxy resin. Colors will remain transparent in your finished product. Our dyes are extremely concentrated and a little goes a long way.

Start with 1 drop per pound of Reed Diffuser Base or Resin to achieve a medium shade. For small batches of Resin, use a toothpick or other similar tool to add a tiny amount of dye and work your way up to the desired shade. Colors can be mixed to create custom shades!
