Tax Exempt Purchases

Making a tax exempt purchase for your business or non-profit with NorthWood Distributing is simple! Just email us a signed copy of the tax exempt form and we will get it added to your account. You will find the link to the correct form for your state in the table below.

Currently, we only collect sales tax from the following states: Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, and Virginia.

In order to file a tax-exempt certificate, you must first create a customer account with us. See the answer for “How do I create an account?” on our FAQ page if you need assistance making an account.

Once you have an account created, please send an email to with a copy of your tax-exempt certificate. In your email, please include the email address for the account you want to make exempt. Once the information is received, we will notify you when your tax status is updated, usually within 24 hours.

Please note that we are unable to refund any tax paid on previous orders. We require that these forms are updated anually in June. We will send you a reminder asking for an updated copy. If not received by June 30th, your account will lose it's tax exempt status.
